Simon recently returned from a fantastic long weekend at the Blackpool Magic Convention. Held mid February at the Winter Gardens, the Blackpool Magic Convention is the world’s largest gathering of magicians, bringing together top performers, creators, and magic enthusiasts from around the globe.

I go most years and it is always an incredible event—an opportunity to learn, connect, and be inspired by the best in the business. This year’s convention was no exception, packed with jaw-dropping performances, exclusive lectures, and the chance to meet some of magic’s biggest names. Learning from the Best One of the main reasons magicians flock to Blackpool is to refine their craft. I took full advantage of the convention’s lectures and workshops, picking up new routines, sleights, and presentation techniques from some of the industry’s finest. highlights for me include Jack Rhodes show, Max Fulham hosting the Gala Show, Terry Fator -Winner of America's Got Talent, bringing his Las Vegas show to the UK for the 1st time.

From cutting-edge close-up magic to mind-blowing stage illusions, the convention showcased the latest developments in the art. I particularly enjoyed lectures from Jay Adkins on Tenyo magic, Paul Martin's Business Blueprint lecture, Craig and Ryland Petty. Reuniting with Friends & Mentors Magic is as much about community as it is about skill, and Blackpool is the perfect place to catch up with fellow magicians. I had the pleasure of reconnecting with Wayne Fox—a renowned magician and mentor known for his innovative approach to close-up magic. Wayne’s insights and experience always provide fresh inspiration for my performances.
Another highlight was meeting Craig Petty, a powerhouse in the magic industry and one of the best sleight-of-hand artists in the UK. Craig’s deep knowledge of coin magic and product creation makes every conversation a learning experience. Meeting Celebrity Magicians No Blackpool Magic Convention would be complete without a few celebrity encounters. Simon had the chance to meet Dynamo, the world-famous street magician known for his gravity-defying illusions and modern approach to magic. Seeing Dynamo up close and hearing about his creative process was an unforgettable moment.

Another exciting meeting was with Stephen Mulhern, a magician-turned-TV-presenter whose charm and charisma have made him a household name. His journey from magic to mainstream entertainment is truly inspiring, showing how magic can open doors beyond the stage. Exploring the Magic Dealer Hall The convention’s dealer hall is a treasure trove of new tricks, props, and gimmicks. I spent hours browsing the latest innovations, selecting sleights and effects that will elevate my performances at weddings and private events. With so much talent and creativity on display, it’s impossible to leave without fresh ideas to incorporate into future shows. Bringing the Magic Back Home After an action-packed weekend at Blackpool, I returned home with a car full of new tricks, refined skills, and renewed inspiration. The convention always reinforces my passion for magic.
